چکیده | ||
Jungian psychology, grounded in imagery and metaphor, posits that metaphor is a manifestation of imagery. While the study of Archetypes theory shaping literal metaphors is widespread across languages, less explored is whether metaphorical conceptualizations can function as a modality, akin to dreams and active imagination, in representing archetypes and the collective unconsciousness. Linguistic data from interactions between at least two different cultures are crucial for accessing shared concepts across diverse communities. This study focuses on the "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together," signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, as a significant piece of shared religious discourse in the modern world. Our aim is to analyze how conceptual operations within metaphorizing archetypes manifest in this discourse. We investigate whether archetypes are represented within the conceptual blending framework of metaphors utilized, if the collective unconscious is reflected in the conceptual metaphors of interfaith dialogue, and how shared understandings can be fostered among religious leaders through these archetypes. Utilizing Conceptual Blending Theory, we identify projected elements of metaphorical expressions related to archetypal content, uncovering the presence of Mother, Rebirth, Shadow, Innocent, and God-Image archetypes within the conceptual blending process. The findings indicate significant shared conceptualizations among Islamic and Christian leaders, underpinned by the collective unconscious, utilizing Jungian archetypes as foundational elements of conceptual metaphors. | ||
