چکیده | ||
This research analyzes the readings of the Companions regarding verse 12 of Surah An-Nisa and the impact of collocational phrases such as "min umm," "min al-umm," "min ummihi," and "li-ummihi" on the understanding of the inheritance ruling for maternal relatives. It also examines Persian and English translations of this verse, exploring the differences in interpretations. In older Persian translations, such as those by Isfarayini and Nasafi, explanatory terms like "mothers," are present; however, these explanations are often absent in most contemporary translations. Some narrations regard the term "qira'a" associated with "umm" as a reading of the Companions, while others consider it merely an explanatory note. Additionally, some commentators view the readings of the Companions as a form of interpretation. By employing a descriptive-analytical method and comparing the meanings of the prevalent reading with that of the Companions, it was determined that these collocations clarify the inheritance ruling for maternal relatives. These collocations emphasize that only siblings from one mother are entitled to receive one-sixth of the inheritance, while paternal or dual-sibling counterparts do not fall under this ruling. The findings of this study may assist translators in selecting more accurate translations. | ||
