چکیده | ||
Playas have great worth in dry and semi-dry climate areas on Earth. Geochemical study of playas is important due to concentration of light and soluble elements. The goal of this research is to survey the effect of surface runoff origin on hydrogeochemical changes and brine evolution process in dry areas. Accordingly, we chose one of largest playas in the Middle-East (Bajestan playa) in Northeast of Iran. The climate of region is dry and the area is categorized as “D” type in Geomorphological classification. In order to reach the objective of study, aerial and satellite images and geological and topographic maps of the area were checked as the first phase. In 1998 September, 35 samples were collected and analyzed by XRF method. Based on results, potassium, calcium, sulfate, and magnesium ions were placed in group (1), chlorine and sodium ions considered in group (2), and carbonate and bicarbonate in group (3). Dispersion map of elements showed domination of group (1) elements in southern and central parts of area, whereas group (2) was more abundant in northern to eastern parts, and group (3) was dominant in west of the region. Whereas current facies in brine of this playa is magnesium sulfate, and probable evolution process is predicted to be I, II, IIIA, IIIB, IIIC paths, so we can forecast sodium chloride facies for brine of this playa. Finally, origin and evolution process of water resources can be considered as the most important factors in hydrogeochemical changes of Bajestan playa brine. | ||
